Summary

Surviving a few weeks at the world's most lethal boarding school was one thing。 But now comes the real test: Can November Adley find her missing father before her enemies find her? Subterfuge is the name of the game in this thrilling sequel to Killing November, from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of How to Hang a Witch

After surviving a crash course in espionage at the mysterious Academy Absconditi, November has only one purpose: finding her missing father。 Along with fellow student (and heartthrob) Ash, November follows the clues that her father left, embarking on the deadliest treasure hunt of her life。 The first clue is in her hometown, where old friends beckon and unexpected enemies lurk around every corner。 The second clue is in Europe, where revelations about her family's history will plunge her into an international web of deception, lies, and intrigue。 The third clue is deep in enemy territory, surrounded by the most skilled assassins and master strategists, and where everyone wants her and her father dead。 Can one girl with limited training infiltrate a centuries-old organization that is powerful enough to topple empires? November only knows that she'll do whatever it takes to save her father 。 。 。 or die trying。

I love following along November and Ash on their adventures and seeing who shows up along the way。 I found it a little harder to get into than the first one, but still an excellent read!

After being enthralled by "Killing November," I knew I had to read the sequel。 Lucky for me that it was available at my local library。 It took me some time to read, but I enjoyed it every step of the way。 There are definitely some differences to the first story, but there were some common threads that kept them cohesive。 After the crazy events from the last book, November is given the choice of staying at the academy or leaving to go find her father。 She decides on the latter and goes on a quest After being enthralled by "Killing November," I knew I had to read the sequel。 Lucky for me that it was available at my local library。 It took me some time to read, but I enjoyed it every step of the way。 There are definitely some differences to the first story, but there were some common threads that kept them cohesive。 After the crazy events from the last book, November is given the choice of staying at the academy or leaving to go find her father。 She decides on the latter and goes on a quest to save him, before something awful happens。 She doesn't go at it alone, though。 Ash, her new friend/love interest insists on joining her。 Together, they search for clues to figure out where November's father has ended up。 First, they go to November's hometown, Pembrook, CT。 From there, the clues they find will lead them to Scotland and then England to the lions den, where Jag (the Lion's leader and November's grandpa) reside。 The setting is constantly changing, as they are basically on the run from assassins that are looking to kill them for getting too close to the truth。 They're in constant danger, but that keeps the action and thrills going, even in the portions of the book that are more about character development and learning about Strategia history。 While only the beginning of the tale takes place at the academy, many familiar faces, such as Laila, Matteo, Aarya, Ines, and Brendan, are very part of the adventure to find November's father and take Jag down。 November, along with the rest of the cast, have a lot of character development and are far from being one dimensional。 My feelings about certain characters changed, mostly in a positive direction。 I enjoyed learning about the different families and how what they do impacts the world。 There was plenty of jam packed action that kept me on the edge of my seat。 It's amazing how much November and her friends go through physically and end up still standing, mostly。 In terms of the outcome, there were parts that I could predict。 However, there were some great surprises revealed that made me say, "ah ha。" It made me look at the story in a different light, once the information is presented。 With the way it ended, Adriana Mather created an option for another book in the series。 However, there's no cliffhanger, so it could easily stay a duo logy。 I hope there's another novel because I really enjoy the world of Strategia。 Otherwise, I'm glad I read this story。 Definitely read them in order, for context purposes。 。。。more

Jaw dropping moment, I tell you what! And Layla and Matteo were following them this whole time and helping them。 I'm glad that we got to see more of them。 This series had an outstanding group of characters and I loved every one of them! I really hope there are more books in the Strategia world。 Maybe we will get to see when November's dad and mom met at the Academy? Or get to see November, Ash, Aarya, Layla and Matteo grown up and going on missions together? That would be so amazing! I really loved this series and I'm sad it ended。 I need more in the Strategia world!!! 😍 。。。more

I had prepared myself for second book syndrome before I started this book, especially since I've seen a few negative reviews, but actually, I was pleasantly surprised。I didn't like it as much as the first book, but that was probably because of the first book's setting。 I really liked the academy。 This book was still good, and I would recommend it to those who have already read the first book。It was a good mystery, although I still slightly prefer the first book's mysteries。 But I still liked the I had prepared myself for second book syndrome before I started this book, especially since I've seen a few negative reviews, but actually, I was pleasantly surprised。I didn't like it as much as the first book, but that was probably because of the first book's setting。 I really liked the academy。 This book was still good, and I would recommend it to those who have already read the first book。It was a good mystery, although I still slightly prefer the first book's mysteries。 But I still liked the plot of this book。My favourite thing about this book was probably the character building。 Aarya was (believe it or not) one of my favourite characters in the first book, but now, I love her so, so much。 Heck, I love her as much as I love Ines (I'm not going to say anything more because I don't want to include spoilers in this review)! These two are probably my favourite characters。 And of course, Ash is as precious as ever。So yeah, 4/5 stars。 :) 。。。more

Too bad she was killed off near the end even though she sacrificed herself to save Aarya。 I liked how the romance was kept at a bare minimum with some cute moments for the couple here and there。 Ash is a dependable and caring guy to November so that was sweet and refreshing to see in YA。 Especially how he handled November during the drunk scene where she drinks whisky instead of cider lol while trying to get information from the informant, Angus。 Sometimes I found the constant flashbacks with no preamble were distracting and pulled me out of the story just to showcase November's past。 I wish those could've flowed better or had its own separate chapter instead。 Jag was the typical corrupt leader that nobody wanted in charge yet no Strategia Family had the courage to defy。 Except of course for November who grew up outside the Strategia world。 I was expecting a bigger outcome in the confrontation with Jag at the end but, but I guess sometimes it's the simplest way of dying like the knife to a chest。 I didn't expect the twist of the dad being the Ferryman lol so that was a funny reveal at the end when Jag realized he hired the Ferryman to hunt himself。 Nonetheless, overall, a fun read and good intro to the YA thriller genre。 Merci pour la recommendation, Cat! :D 。。。more

I loved Killing November。 It had everything I love in a book--boarding schools, spies, murderous plots , a cute love interest, it had my name written all over it。 Hunting November, while still really, really good, didn't quite live up to the hype of the first book in my humble opinion。SummaryHunting November follows November and Ash as they try to track down November's father, a Strategia who was thought to be long dead, but in reality, had been in hiding for the past twenty years before sending I loved Killing November。 It had everything I love in a book--boarding schools, spies, murderous plots , a cute love interest, it had my name written all over it。 Hunting November, while still really, really good, didn't quite live up to the hype of the first book in my humble opinion。SummaryHunting November follows November and Ash as they try to track down November's father, a Strategia who was thought to be long dead, but in reality, had been in hiding for the past twenty years before sending November off to the Academy。I adore the characters (yes, even Aarya。 She grows on you), they're all so different and interesting, and I appreciated how we got some backstory for Ines and Aarya (view spoiler)[even though that ended up serving as a tug to the heartstrings just for Ines to die fighting Jag (hide spoiler)] and this book had more tense situations, I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of it。 I also appreciated there not being a love triangle, the majority of the drama of the story was focused on the situation at hand, and not on November's romantic feelings (though there was a little romantic angst)However, I really missed the Academy。 I loved the teachers and classes that we got to see, and the setting was truly mysterious--granted, we got most of the answers to November's questions in the first book。 I also feel like the explanation for everything that happened to November was too clean and tidy--don't get me wrong, I love a happy ending, but it felt like it came out of left field; there were no clues that I can recall of hints to the bigger picture in the first book。Overall, I love this duology, but I love the first book a little more。 。。。more

I really liked this series, so I’m sad that there aren’t more books to dive into。 At the same time though, I’m glad the author didn’t drag out the plot unnecessarily in order to do so。 I really think this book has a lot of things going for it from a plot that moves well, to interesting unique characters, to mystery, to danger, all the way through to political intrigue。 For such a cool story set in such a unique world I’m shocked there aren’t more stories that the author pulled out of it because I really liked this series, so I’m sad that there aren’t more books to dive into。 At the same time though, I’m glad the author didn’t drag out the plot unnecessarily in order to do so。 I really think this book has a lot of things going for it from a plot that moves well, to interesting unique characters, to mystery, to danger, all the way through to political intrigue。 For such a cool story set in such a unique world I’m shocked there aren’t more stories that the author pulled out of it because I would totally read them。 。。。more
